WHITEFISH BAY, WISCONSIN: Gladys J. Ackerman, 49, died March 5, 1958 at Columbia Hospital. She was born in 1908. She was a graduate of the Milwaukee State Teachers College. She was a former school teacher, and had also been a supervisor for Blue Cross. She was a member of Congregation Shalom and its Sisterhood, and helped found the congregational choir. She was also a member of Hadassah. Survivors include her husband, Wilmur D. Ackerman; her mother, Sarah Dubrow of Chicago; and a sister, Mrs. Samuel Holland of Chicago. Services were held at the Goodman-Bensman Chapel. Interment was at Second Home Cemetery.

APPLETON, WISCONSIN: Eileen B. Agen died February 25, 2005. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 17, 1923 to the late Lee and Mary Weiss Steele. She enjoyed reading, square dancing, and bowling. She is survived by four daughters, Colleen (James) Recker of Appleton, Joyce (Dano) Jagielo of Neenah, and Karen (Ronald) Rademacher, and Jennifer Agen, all of Kimberly; four sons, Steven (Becky) Agen of Menasha, James (Sue) Agen of Combined Locks, and Robert J. (Charlene) Agen, and Lee (Kari) Agen, all of Appleton; two brothers, Richard (Vivian) Steele of California, and Giles Steele of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Agen; two brothers, George and Billy; and two sisters, Betty and Dixie. Services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery by Wichmann Funeral Home.

STOUGHTON, WISCONSIN: Beverly S. Albertus, 83, died June 22, 2008. She was born January 22, 1925 to Jake and Helen Bernard Stick. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and sports. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Albertus; her children, Mark (Joan) Albertus of Ontario, CA, Colleen (Rick) Helgeson of Stoughton, and Carol (John) Williams of Madison; 4 grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Kermit Stick; and her parents. Interment was at Highland Memory Gardens with arrangements by Cress Funeral Service.

ALEXANDER, Lewis
PORT EDWARDS, WISCONSIN: Lewis Miller Alexander died August 7, 1934. He was born July 12, 1858 in Iowa. He was president of the Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company, and was involved with Inland Empire Paper Co., Iroquois Millwork, Centralia Pulp and Water Power Co., and other business concerns. He also worked in the banking industry, and co-founded several banks and insurance companies. He was a longtime benefactor of Lawrence College and Nekoosa High School, where he had financed gymnasiums for both schools. He served on the Wisconsin State Legislative Committee, and was a Port Edwards town chairman. Alexander Middle School in Nekoosa is named for him. He attended the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a former resident of California and Milwaukee. He was the husband of Lida Edwards Alexander, and the father of John E. Alexander. Interment was at the Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery.

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN: Virginia Rose Angst, 73, died October 10, 2008. She was born October 28, 1934 to Carl and Agnes Kurczek Bielmeier. She was a member of St. Matthew Parish, where she volunteered at the library and served as church secretary. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and traveling. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John W. Angst; two children, Carolyn (Mark) Kolb of Hudson, and Dan (Kathy) Angst of Appleton; her mother; two sisters, Pat (Jim) Lichtenberg, and Irene (Darwin) Wegenke; five brothers, Jim (Polly) Bielmeier, Fred (Judi) Bielmeier, Joe (Joey) Bielmeier, Dan (Jill) Bielmeier, and David (Janice) Bielmeier; a sister-in-law, Lois Bielmeier; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger (Barbara) Angst, Alice Van Schyndle, Grace (Tony) Balza, Jim (Eunice) Angst, and Joyce Scheer; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jason; her father, Carl Bielmeier; a brother, Ray Bielmeier; a sister-in-law, Joyce Angst; and three brothers-in-law, Roland Angst, Loren Scheer, and Mike Van Schyndle. Services were held at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Entombment of cremains was at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum by Schauer and Schumacher Funeral Home.

She worked for the USDA for over 18 years, and attended Emanuel Methodist Church. BENOIT, Brother Francis
MOUNT CALVARY, WISCONSIN: Brother Francis Benoit, 50, died February 1, 1956 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was in an car accident that also killed Brother Jude Thaddeus Veit. He was a native of Detroit, MI. He was a member of the Capuchin-Franciscan order, completing his novitiate in Detroit. He served on missions in Guam and Saipan, and at the time of his passing, was a sacristan at St. Francis Monastery. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Elwood Rousseau of Detroit, MI; a brother, Andrew Benoit of Detroit, MI; and his religious community. Services were held at St. Francis Church. Interment was at the Capuchin Cemetery at Mount Calvary, WI.

AMHERST, WISCONSIN: Jacob S. "Jake" Biadasz, 94, died December 10, 2006. He was born June 18, 1912 to the late Jacob Biadasz, Sr. and Dominicka Repinski Biadasz. He was a retired farmer, and also worked in construction for C.R. Meyers. He was a member of the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Meshak Biadasz; a daughter, Mary (Tom) Wierzba of Rosholt; two sons, Norman (Marge) Biadasz, and Robert (Diane) Biadasz, all of Amherst; a sister, Verona (Edwin) Herek of Stevens Point; a brother, Dominic (Joyce) Biadasz of Stevens Point; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; and a grandson. Services were held at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial was at the parish cemetery by Pisarski Funeral Home.

GLENDALE, WISCONSIN: Meyer Bloom, 42, died March 22, 1970 at St. Michael Hospital. He was born November 27, 1927 in Milwaukee. He was a graduate of Marquette University. He worked in sales at Century Hardware, and had formerly worked at Schuster's. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and president-elect of its Men's Club, and was also a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. Survivors include his wife, Judith; a son, David; two daughters, Marsha and Rena; and two brothers, Benjamin and Samuel. Interment was at Mound Zion Cemetery under the direction of Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home.

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Andrew J. "Andy" Bova, 82, died June 1, 2001. He was born November 25, 1918. He was a retired captain of the Milwaukee Fire Department with 35 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II. He was the father of Joseph, Barbara, John (Sue), Michael (Barbara), and Kathleen (Edward) Dahlberg. He had 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and was survived by other relatives and friends. AMHERST, WISCONSIN: Arvid R. Brathovde, Sr., 92, died September 9, 2009 at his home. He was born October 25, 1916 in Amherst to Oliver and Signe Brathovde. He worked at a machinist at the A.O. Smith Co. in Milwaukee for 27 years, and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Sakshaug of Winneconne, and Rosalie Gressick of Crestwood, IL; a son, Arvid Brathovde, Jr. of Stevens Point; a sister, Evelyn Bell of Wausau; his grandchildren; his nieces; and a family friend, Bonnie Orheim of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Bartonich Brathovde; a son, John Brathovde; and a brother, Tony Brathovde. LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN: Sr. Lola Brunner, 83, died February 20, 2007 at Villa St. Joseph in La Crosse. She was born Lorena Brunner on August 5, 1923 in Durand to Fred and Mary Brantner Brunner. She was a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, entering St. Rose Convent in 1942. She made a profession of vows on August 12, 1945. She formerly taught in Ashland, and was a homemaker in convent homes for 45 years in Washington, Iowa, Menomonie and Durand. She retired to St. Rose Convent in 1994, and to the Villa in 2007. Survivors include three sisters, Bernice (Bob) Traun of Nelson, and Doris (Gil) Weiss and Margaret (Fred) Bauer, all of Durand; her nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan religious community. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marian Bauer; and a brother, Clarence. Services were held at Mary of the Angels Chapel. Interment was in La Crosse at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.

He farmed in the Juneau and Lebanon areas, and attended the United Methodist Church of Concord. He was a member of the Concord Senior Center and the Watertown Senior Center, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by four sons, Michael (Pamela) Buske of Juneau, John (Cheryl) Buske of Lomira, Thomas Buske of Columbus, and William (Shari) Buske of Brownsville; a daughter, Bonnie Krizan of Oshkosh; two brothers, Lloyd (Lilian) Buske and George Buske of Massachusetts; a sister, Mary Davis of Wimberly, TX; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; his nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was a former Chicago resident, and worked as a color matcher at JoAnna Western Co. He had also been a longtime employee of Pacelli High School, and retired from St. Michael's Hospital as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Eve Lapinskas Butkus; a daughter, Margaret (Robert) Check of Stevens Point; two sons, John (Barbara) and Anthony J. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Business Women, and was a hospital auxiliary volunteer. She was an artist, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She is survived by four sons, David (Jean) of Rockford, IL, Leonard, Jr. of Raleigh-Durham, NC, and Jay (Sue), and Keith (Mary), all of Sturgeon Bay; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a retired teacher, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was state president of the Wisconsin Homemakers, and was a 4-H leader. She is survived by a son, Daniel E. (Pat) Chelmo of Wautoma; a daughter, Gail Ann (Bob) Briggs of Towanda, IL; a brother, Louis Merlin (Marilyn) Johnson of Hot Springs Village, AR; a sister, Wilda (Bob) Lindquist of Boulder, CO; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was a retired truck driver for Rainbo Oil Co. in Dubuque, IA with 33 years of service. He was a member of Teamsters Local #421, and attended the United Methodist Church, where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He enjoyed playing Yahtzee, collecting coins, and watching sports, including the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by four children, Charles (Lorraine) Cross of Glen Ellyn, IL, Carmen (Chris) Cornelius of Dubuque, IA, and Dale (Debbie) Cross and Myron (Carol) Cross, all of Jacksonville, NC; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also a hospice volunteer. He was a member of the Wausau Noon Kiwanis Club, where he held several offices and had perfect attendance for 50 years. He was also a member of the Wisconsin and Wausau Retired Educators Association, the Wisconsin Council for Social Studies, the Guidance and Personnel Association, the Marathon County Commission on Aging, the the Northern Area Agency on Aging, the Sons of Norway, and the Wausau Curling Club. He enjoyed curling, and was active into his late 90s. He is survived by his nieces and nephews; and his friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Segrid Njus Enstad; a daughter, Tanya Marie; a brother, Juel Enstad; three sisters, Luella Dumas, Gladys Nellermoe, and Myrtle Johnson; and his parents. RICE LAKE, WISCONSIN: Erwin G. Kreutz, 73, died October 1, 2008 at Lakeview Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1935 in Chicago to Erwin and Ruth Gleason Kreutz. He owned several business ventures, including Trappers Crossing and Anchor Inn Tavern in Chetek, as well as bait shops and gas stations. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and enjoyed car restoration, gardening, cooking, watching sports on TV, and old movies. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Ekstrom Kreutz; a daughter, Kathy Quail of Batavia, IL; four sons, David of Lyons, IL, Jason of St. Charles, IL, Kenneth of Holiday, FL, and Michael of Fayetteville, NC; a stepdaughter, Heather DuBois of Clayton; a stepson, Chris DuBois of Chetek; a sister, Joan Fostvedt of Chetek; three brothers, Jack of Chetek, James of Barrington, IL, and Charles of Sarasota, FL; 7 grandchildren; and 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark. Services were held at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors was at the church cemetery.

MOSINEE, WISCONSIN: Robert J. Krieski, 88, died May 2, 2008 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Weston. He was born August 19, 1919 in Knowlton to the late John Krieski and Helen Lashau Gordon. He retired from the Biron Division of Consolidated Papers Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids with 34 years of service, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Joe) Friday of Mosinee, and Jane (Bob) Halder of Boulder Junction; a son, Howard (Germaine) of Stevens Point; a sister, Nora Pendowski of Milwaukee; a brother, Harold of Sheboygan; four half-sisters; five half-brothers; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Dean Krieski; 3 half-brothers; and 3 half-sisters. Interment was at the Mosinee Cemetery by Beste Funeral Home.

PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN: June D. Kuhls, 81, died June 30, 2010. She was born June 5, 1929 to Archie and Edna Cavanaugh Wolf. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. She retired from the food service department of UW-Platteville, and had also been a farmer in Elk Grove Township. She was a member of Davies Memorial Congregational Church in Potosi, and joined the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville, where she was a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara A. (Luke) Wedig of Mineral Point, and Kathy J. (Curt) Shager of Marshall; three sons, David J. (Diana) Kuhls of Montort, Ronald E. (Barbara) Kuhls of Fond du Lac, and Gary R. (Connie) Kuhls of Rockford, IL; a special companion, Joe Buss of Belmont; a brother, Don (Jean) Wolf of Platteville; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wolf; a sister-in-law, Marion Wolf; and her parents. Services were held at Lutheran Church of Peace. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery by Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home and Crematory.

MOSINEE, WISCONSIN: Walter J. Lahr, 85, died December 23, 1998 at the Mount View Care Center in Wausau. He was born July 12, 1913 in Mosinee to the late Peter and Margaret Minuier Lahr. He was a longtime employee of Peerless Dry Cleaning in Milwaukee, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two brothers, Ernest Lahr of Mosinee, and Lester Lahr of Wausau; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters; and five brothers. MADISON, WISCONSIN: Dr. Tony Lazewski, 62, died September 6, 2009 at HospiceCare. He was born December 30, 1946 in Antigo, WI to Barney and Doris Marx Lazewski. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and later earned a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. He was a property adjuster with American Family Insurance for 25 years, and had also worked for the State Historical Society, for which he later served as a volunteer. He was active in Boy Scouting, and was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow advisor, and recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He also played hockey for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hassler Lazewski; two daughters, Lisa and Laura; and his father. He was preceded in death by his mother. Services were held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Arrangements were handled by Cress Funeral Service.
