APPLETON, WISCONSIN: Eileen B. Agen died February 25, 2005. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 17, 1923 to the late Lee and Mary Weiss Steele. She enjoyed reading, square dancing, and bowling. She is survived by four daughters, Colleen (James) Recker of Appleton, Joyce (Dano) Jagielo of Neenah, and Karen (Ronald) Rademacher, and Jennifer Agen, all of Kimberly; four sons, Steven (Becky) Agen of Menasha, James (Sue) Agen of Combined Locks, and Robert J. (Charlene) Agen, and Lee (Kari) Agen, all of Appleton; two brothers, Richard (Vivian) Steele of California, and Giles Steele of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Agen; two brothers, George and Billy; and two sisters, Betty and Dixie. Services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery by Wichmann Funeral Home.

STOUGHTON, WISCONSIN: Beverly S. Albertus, 83, died June 22, 2008. She was born January 22, 1925 to Jake and Helen Bernard Stick. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and sports. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Albertus; her children, Mark (Joan) Albertus of Ontario, CA, Colleen (Rick) Helgeson of Stoughton, and Carol (John) Williams of Madison; 4 grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Kermit Stick; and her parents. Interment was at Highland Memory Gardens with arrangements by Cress Funeral Service.

ALEXANDER, Lewis
PORT EDWARDS, WISCONSIN: Lewis Miller Alexander died August 7, 1934. He was born July 12, 1858 in Iowa. He was president of the Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company, and was involved with Inland Empire Paper Co., Iroquois Millwork, Centralia Pulp and Water Power Co., and other business concerns. He also worked in the banking industry, and co-founded several banks and insurance companies. He was a longtime benefactor of Lawrence College and Nekoosa High School, where he had financed gymnasiums for both schools. He served on the Wisconsin State Legislative Committee, and was a Port Edwards town chairman. Alexander Middle School in Nekoosa is named for him. He attended the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a former resident of California and Milwaukee. He was the husband of Lida Edwards Alexander, and the father of John E. Alexander. Interment was at the Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery.

She was a member of St. Matthew Parish, where she volunteered at the library and served as church secretary. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and traveling. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John W. Angst; two children, Carolyn (Mark) Kolb of Hudson, and Dan (Kathy) Angst of Appleton; her mother; two sisters, Pat (Jim) Lichtenberg, and Irene (Darwin) Wegenke; five brothers, Jim (Polly) Bielmeier, Fred (Judi) Bielmeier, Joe (Joey) Bielmeier, Dan (Jill) Bielmeier, and David (Janice) Bielmeier; a sister-in-law, Lois Bielmeier; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger (Barbara) Angst, Alice Van Schyndle, Grace (Tony) Balza, Jim (Eunice) Angst, and Joyce Scheer; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jason; her father, Carl Bielmeier; a brother, Ray Bielmeier; a sister-in-law, Joyce Angst; and three brothers-in-law, Roland Angst, Loren Scheer, and Mike Van Schyndle. BENOIT, Brother Francis
MOUNT CALVARY, WISCONSIN: Brother Francis Benoit, 50, died February 1, 1956 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was in an car accident that also killed Brother Jude Thaddeus Veit. He was a native of Detroit, MI. He was a member of the Capuchin-Franciscan order, completing his novitiate in Detroit. He served on missions in Guam and Saipan, and at the time of his passing, was a sacristan at St. Francis Monastery. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Elwood Rousseau of Detroit, MI; a brother, Andrew Benoit of Detroit, MI; and his religious community. Services were held at St. Francis Church. Interment was at the Capuchin Cemetery at Mount Calvary, WI.

AMHERST, WISCONSIN: Jacob S. "Jake" Biadasz, 94, died December 10, 2006. He was born June 18, 1912 to the late Jacob Biadasz, Sr. and Dominicka Repinski Biadasz. He was a retired farmer, and also worked in construction for C.R. Meyers. He was a member of the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Meshak Biadasz; a daughter, Mary (Tom) Wierzba of Rosholt; two sons, Norman (Marge) Biadasz, and Robert (Diane) Biadasz, all of Amherst; a sister, Verona (Edwin) Herek of Stevens Point; a brother, Dominic (Joyce) Biadasz of Stevens Point; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; and a grandson. Services were held at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial was at the parish cemetery by Pisarski Funeral Home.

He worked in sales at Century Hardware, and had formerly worked at Schuster's. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and president-elect of its Men's Club, and was also a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. Survivors include his wife, Judith; a son, David; two daughters, Marsha and Rena; and two brothers, Benjamin and Samuel. Interment was at Mound Zion Cemetery under the direction of Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home.

He was a retired captain of the Milwaukee Fire Department with 35 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II. He was the father of Joseph, Barbara, John (Sue), Michael (Barbara), and Kathleen (Edward) Dahlberg. He had 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and was survived by other relatives and friends. AMHERST, WISCONSIN: Arvid R. Brathovde, Sr., 92, died September 9, 2009 at his home. He was born October 25, 1916 in Amherst to Oliver and Signe Brathovde. He worked at a machinist at the A.O. Smith Co. in Milwaukee for 27 years, and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Sakshaug of Winneconne, and Rosalie Gressick of Crestwood, IL; a son, Arvid Brathovde, Jr. of Stevens Point; a sister, Evelyn Bell of Wausau; his grandchildren; his nieces; and a family friend, Bonnie Orheim of Amherst. LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN: Sr. Lola Brunner, 83, died February 20, 2007 at Villa St. Joseph in La Crosse. She was born Lorena Brunner on August 5, 1923 in Durand to Fred and Mary Brantner Brunner. She was a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, entering St. Rose Convent in 1942. She made a profession of vows on August 12, 1945. She formerly taught in Ashland, and was a homemaker in convent homes for 45 years in Washington, Iowa, Menomonie and Durand. She retired to St. Rose Convent in 1994, and to the Villa in 2007. Survivors include three sisters, Bernice (Bob) Traun of Nelson, and Doris (Gil) Weiss and Margaret (Fred) Bauer, all of Durand; her nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan religious community. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marian Bauer; and a brother, Clarence. Services were held at Mary of the Angels Chapel. Interment was in La Crosse at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.

JUNEAU, WISCONSIN: Howard F. Buske, 87, died April 1, 2008 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born August 24, 1920 in Concord to Frank and Elsie Koeppler Buske. He farmed in the Juneau and Lebanon areas, and attended the United Methodist Church of Concord. He was a member of the Concord Senior Center and the Watertown Senior Center, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by four sons, Michael (Pamela) Buske of Juneau, John (Cheryl) Buske of Lomira, Thomas Buske of Columbus, and William (Shari) Buske of Brownsville; a daughter, Bonnie Krizan of Oshkosh; two brothers, Lloyd (Lilian) Buske and George Buske of Massachusetts; a sister, Mary Davis of Wimberly, TX; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; his nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He had also been a longtime employee of Pacelli High School, and retired from St. Michael's Hospital as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired truck driver for Rainbo Oil Co. in Dubuque, IA with 33 years of service. He was a member of Teamsters Local #421, and attended the United Methodist Church, where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He enjoyed playing Yahtzee, collecting coins, and watching sports, including the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by four children, Charles (Lorraine) Cross of Glen Ellyn, IL, Carmen (Chris) Cornelius of Dubuque, IA, and Dale (Debbie) Cross and Myron (Carol) Cross, all of Jacksonville, NC; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN: Sr. Eugene (Julia) DeGrand died June 2, 2011 in Green Bay. She was born January 3, 1927 in Sugar Bush, WI to Edward and Margaret Pirlot DeGrand. She entered St. Francis Convent in 1944, and was received into the congregation in 1945. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1970, her Golden Jubilee in 1995, and her Diamond Jubilee in 2005. She was also a hospice volunteer. He was a retired guidance counselor at Horace Mann School with 24 years of service, and also taught history in Medford and at Wausau High School. He was a member of the Wausau Noon Kiwanis Club, where he held several offices and had perfect attendance for 50 years. He was also a member of the Wisconsin and Wausau Retired Educators Association, the Wisconsin Council for Social Studies, the Guidance and Personnel Association, the Marathon County Commission on Aging, the the Northern Area Agency on Aging, the Sons of Norway, and the Wausau Curling Club. He enjoyed curling, and was active into his late 90s. He is survived by his nieces and nephews; and his friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Segrid Njus Enstad; a daughter, Tanya Marie; a brother, Juel Enstad; three sisters, Luella Dumas, Gladys Nellermoe, and Myrtle Johnson; and his parents. She served in administrative positions for the Sisters of the Divine Savior (Salvatorians), both at the province level and the Generalate level in Rome. She was an archivist for the American Province for 20 years. She worked with the Visual Aids Department at Silver Lake College, and performed various duties at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc. She was a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is survived by a brother and two sisters-in-law, Raymond and Mary Junk, and Rita Junk of Manitowoc; a sister, Josephine Theyerl of Francis Creek; her nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends; and her religious community. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and later earned a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. He was a property adjuster with American Family Insurance for 25 years, and had also worked for the State Historical Society, for which he later served as a volunteer. He was active in Boy Scouting, and was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow advisor, and recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He also played hockey for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hassler Lazewski; two daughters, Lisa and Laura; and his father. He was preceded in death by his mother. Services were held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. He was a professor of urban affairs and business administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Vienna, and master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Harvard University. He formerly taught at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. He had been a member of the UWM faculty since 1962. He had also worked for the U.S. Department of Labor and the Agency for International Development, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was survived by his wife, Evelyn Petshek. FRANCIS CREEK, WISCONSIN: Fr. Raymond Schrimpf died January 4, 1998 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc. He was born Richard John Schrimpf in Francis Creek, WI on September 19, 1922. He attended the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, and held a degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University. He returned to St. Nazianz and entered the Novitiate in 1950, professing vows in 1951. He studied for the priesthood at Catholic University in Washington, DC, and was ordained there at the chapel of Trinity College on December 8, 1956. He taught math and physics at St. Mary's High School in Lancaster, NY and Jordan High School in Milwaukee. He was named the province's Director of Finance in 1979, and later became Director of the Deferred Giving Program at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein. He served at various Salvatorian parishes, and was pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Hohenwald, TN. He returned to Francis Creek in 1987. He enjoyed working with carpentry and electrical wiring. He was survived by a brother, Fr. Reginald Schrimpf (d. January 17, 2003), who was also a Salvatorian priest. Interment was at St. Anne's Cemetery in Francis Creek.

HEBRON, WISCONSIN: Joel "Jack" Stevens, 88, died August 10, 1898 at Fort Atkinson, Jesserson County, WI. He was born June 10, 1810 in Jericho, VT to Roger and Esther Snow Stevens. Following his father's death on June 7, 1841, he and his brother, Jonas, settled in McHenry County, IL, while their brother Artimus went to Ohio. The mother joined the sons in Illinois. In May of 1855, she applied for Bounty Land at Chemung, IL in McHenry County. She was entitled to this land under the US Act of March 3rd, 1855 giving government land to Revolutionary War widows. She died on October 28, 1855, and is buried in McHenry Co, IL. Jack was a farmer and moved to Wisconsin. He married Sally (1814-1880). He and his wife are buried at the Hebron Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson County, Wisconsin.

MADISON, WISCONSIN: Dr. Hugo B. Wahlin, 77, died April 26, 1971 in Madison. He was born February 28, 1894 in McPherson, KS. He was a retired physics professor at the University of Wisconsin. He began his career with the University of Wisconsin as a physics instructor in 1921, eventually becoming a full professor. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wilbert and Hubert. Services were held at Cross Lutheran Church. MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Leif B. Wiken, 63, died February 5, 1969 at Trinity Memorial Hospital in Cudahy. He retired from the Milwaukee Police Department, where he had worked from 1935 to 1960. He also worked as a plant guard at Harnischfeger Corp. He was a Mason and a Shriner, and attended Norway Lutheran Church in Wind Lake. He was survived by his wife, Alvina Wiken; two daughters, Jordis (John) Martin and Jeanne (Raymond) Bonk; three sons, Keith, Terry, and Daniel; four brothers, Christ, Ernolf, Dick, and Ralph; and a sister, Mrs. Milton Shove. PULASKI, WISCONSIN: Sophie Wiza, 93, died November 25, 2006 in Green Bay. She was born January 30, 1913 in Braddock, PA to the late John and Frances Jagodzinski Korzeniewski. She and her husband owned Wiza's Bar in Milwaukee, Pulaski, and Sobieski Corners. She had also worked at Northern Shoe and Behrendt's Service Station in Pulaski. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and often cooked for various community events. She is survived by a sister, Lillian Pachucki of Milwaukee; her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Wiza; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph (Frances) Korzeniewski, and John Korzeniewski; a brother-in-law, Eugene Pachucki; and a cousin, Tony Baranowski. Services were held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment was at the parish cemetery under the direction of Marnocha Funeral Home.

He retired from Lullabye Furniture, and he and his wife also farmed. He enjoyed gardening, animals, sports, fishing, and birdwatching. STEVENS POINT, WISCONSIN: Sr. Marcelline Zblewski, 98, died March 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Motherhouse in Stevens Point. She was a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis. She taught in Catholic schools for 49 years. Some of the schools she taught at include St. Peter School in Stevens Point, St. Michael School in Junction City, and St. Mary of Mount Carmel School in Amherst. She is survived by a brother, Joseph (Karen) Zblewski of Albion, MI; three sisters, Esther Zblewski of Monona, and Nettie Hintz and Virginia Kudronowicz, both of Stevens Point; her nieces and nephews; and her religious community.
