She held a bachelor's degree, and taught school for over 30 years. She enjoyed worldwide travel. She is survived by a daughter, Marji Fordyce of Rapid City; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Tony Sanders. PHILIP, SOUTH DAKOTA: Mary Jean Hart Ankrum, 73, died April 1, 2005. She was born March 3, 1932 in Philip, SD to George W. and Margaret Hansen Hart. She retired from the Haakon County Treasurer's Office after 45 years of service. She was a former clerk at the Haakon County Treasurer's Office, and later became Deputy Treasurer. In 1962, she was elected as Treasurer. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a member of the Evening Guild. She enjoyed playing cards. She is survived by two daughters, Tina Noteboom (Mike), and Patti Rhodes (Jerry), all of Philip; a brother, George Hart (Barb) of Thornton, CO; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester E. "Les" Ankrum; two sisters, Eileen Hoag and her twin, Margaret Jean Hart; and a brother, Francis Hart. Services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment was at the Masonic Cemetery by Rush Funeral Home.
BOWDLE, SOUTH DAKOTA: Erhard Arand Beitelspacher, 91, died September 28, 2006. He was born July 14, 1915 to
John J. Beitelspacher and Christina Schumacher
Beitelspacher. He and his wife were longtime farmers. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was on the church building committee. He served on the Farmers Union Oil Co-Op board, and was a member of the Bowdle Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing and livestock sales, and was interested in agricultural technology. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Minnie Haux Beitelspacher (d. 2009); a son, Leroy (Carla) Beitelspacher of Bowdle; two daughters, Lonita (Paul) Biedler of Chandler, AZ and Cindy (Lyle) Schock of Bowdle; a brother, Cleo Beitelspacher of Oakland, CA; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant children; two sisters; and five brothers. Services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial was at the church cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Home.
CHAMBERLAIN, SOUTH DAKOTA: Bertha Brinker, 96, died October 30, 2007. She was born March 9, 1911 to Nels and Anna Mahnke Monson. She held a teaching certificate from Spearfish Teachers College, and was an elementary school teacher. She aided in the development of the Senior Citizens' Organization in Chamberlain. She is survived by four daughters, Dera Sly and husband Ken of Platte, Delora Lloyd of Delta, CO, Wanita Turner and husband Frank of Olathe, KS, and L. Adell Martin of Riverton, WY; a brother, Alvin of Yankton; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Charles Fields, Jim Donelan, and Dewey Brinker; four sisters, Emma, Clara, Laura, and Lillie; and 6 brothers, Bill, Albert, Carl, Fred, Henry, and an infant brother. SISSETON, SOUTH DAKOTA: Shirley O. Buus, 64, died November 27, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. She was born June 8, 1946 in Peever, SD to Rex and Stella Owen. She was a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, and attended Long Hollow Presbyterian Church. He came to Canistota in 1902. He was a farmer, and later operated the Farmers' Store until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. WALL, SOUTH DAKOTA: Harold Jacob Kleinschmit, 83, died November 2, 2008. He was born June 18, 1925 near Dallas, SD to Henry and Mary Kast Kleinschmit. He was a farmer. He also worked at a flax plant, in the construction industry, and was a former maintenance man at the Wall Motel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, and enjoyed woodworking, Model Ts, and model airplanes. She was also formerly employed by the Census Bureau, and was an interviewer for the University of Michigan Survey Research Department. She was born May 16, 1917 to John and Alice Matheny Anderson, the eldest of fourteen children. She was a lifetime resident of the Kennebec area. She and her husband operated the Phillips 66 station in Kennebec before moving to Highway 16 and opening Manger's Conoco, retiring after 26 years. She was a member of the See Your Neighbor Club, the Kennebec Senior Citizens, and the Presho Senior Citizens. She enjoyed flower gardening, and playing cards and bingo. Survivors include a daughter, Betty (Rodney) Ness of Rapid City; a son, Don (Sony) Manger of Kennebec; five sisters, Laura (Bud) Reuer of Herrick, Mabel "Mick" Weaver of Murdo, Lenora Masteller of Pierre, Lucille (Phil) Crouch of Yates Center, KS, and Virginia Slifko of Orangeburg, SC; a brother, Orville (Lola) Anderson of Murdo; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Manger; her parents; four sisters; and three brothers. Interment was at the Kennebec Cemetery.

HOWARD, SOUTH DAKOTA: Marilda Lusetta Stevens Matheny died June 7, 1924 in Howard. She was born July 28, 1852 in Ohio to Artimus C and Amartha Ann Allen Stevens. On February 20, 1872, she married James Harvey Matheny (b. December 4, 1848 in Covington, VA) in at Andrew, IA. They lived in Iowa until 1882, when they moved to a farm in Miner County, SD. Mr. Matheny was County Commissioner of Miner County. They had five children, James Ira, Myron Guy, Clyde LeRoy, George Orian, and Harvey Don. Note: Some records give her middle name as Lensetta.

He was a retired surveyor, inspector, project engingeer and engineering supervisor for the South Dakota Department of Transportation with 36 years of service. He also worked with the State Emergency Management office and FEMA personnel, surveying and assessing damage in disaster areas. After retirement, he helped with the family operation of the Zesto Drive-Inn. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and attended First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks, and the Volunteer Service Bank. Survivors include his wife, Janet Johnson TeBeest; a daughter, Debra (Craig) Vis of Brookings; two sons, Kevin (Vicki) TeBeest of Burton, MI, and Gregg (Lauri) TeBeest of Waseca, MN; a sister, Verna Shiver, of Eastpoint, FL; his nieces and nephews; 8 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
