She was a retired secretary and office manager at Union Labor Life Insurance Co., and was a lifelong Syracuse resident. She attended Our Lady of Pompei Church. She is survived by a nephew, Vincent A. Pace; two nieces, Patricia P. Campbell and Barbara P. Bell; 2 great-nephews; 7 great-nieces; and her friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Grenga; her parents; and two brothers, Vincent N. Pace and Ralph V. Pace. Services were held at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. OLEAN, NEW YORK: Theresa D. Kurlej Paciorkowski, 76, died September 23, 2006. She was born June 15, 1930 to the late Joseph and Sophia Skrzypczak Kurlej. She was a former secretary at the Veterans Administration Office, and was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. She is survived by two daughters, Lucille (Edward) Poniatowski of Huntsville, AL, and Kathy (Peter) Judkins of Portville; three sons, Joseph (Kathy) Paciorkowski of Deerfield, NH, Paul Paciorkowski of Jamestown, and Eugene Paciorkowski of Portville; a sister, Patricia (Randy) LeBlanc of Salamanca; two brothers, Stanley (Gerri) Kurlej of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Leonard Lex (JoAnn) Kurlej of Fort Meyers, FL; a sister-in-law, Glady Kurlej of Murrysville, PA; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley T. Paciorkowski; a brother, John Kurlej; and two sisters, Mary Lucille Kurlej and Helen Kochaniec. AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK: Nancy A. Pakeltis, 88, died November 23, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born October 2, 1917 in Amsterdam to John and Sadie Mazelauskas. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute and the Amsterdam School of Commerce. She was a sales associate at Hallet's Store in Amsterdam for over 20 years, and was also a bookkeeper at Fulmont Electric Company, which her husband operated. Additionally, she had worked in her family's businesses, John's Market and Pakeltis Market. She was a former parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, and was a current communicant of St. Casimir's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Living Rosary Society and the Ladies' Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital gift shop, and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and Club 60. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Joseph J. Pakeltis; her children, Marilyn J. Pakeltis of Amsterdam, and Jack (Liz) Pakeltis of Dana Point, CA; a granddaughter; her cousins; and her friends. Services were held at St. Casimir's Church. Interment was at St. Casimir's Cemetery under the direction of Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home.

COLLINS, NEW YORK: Adeline Walgus Palcic, 78, died September 18, 2001. She was the daughter of John and Tillie Walgus. She worked at American Wire Tie, Inc. for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Gowanda Slovenian Club, and the Gowanda Lions Club. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Lauten of Wilton, CT, and Jeanne Schneider of Cheshire, CT; and 4 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Theodore J. Palcic. ONEONTA, NEW YORK: Anthony F. Palisi, 76, died April 5, 2007 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital. He was born July 10, 1930 in San Francisco, CA to Vincent and Alberta Palisi. He was a former Marin County court reporter in California, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He wrote the "Tony's Corner" column at Nader Towers for 10 years. SOLVAY, NEW YORK: Clelia Rinolfi Pedrotti, 89, died February 16, 2010. She was born January 5, 1921. She came to America with her family in 1935 from Ghislarengo, Italy. She retired from Pass and Seymour Company, and formerly worked in the shipping and receiving department at Frazer and Jones Company. She enjoyed baking and traveling, and she and her husband made several trips to Italy together. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church for 75 years. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alfred; a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred, Jr. (Laurel) of Fairmount; a granddaughter; and her nieces and nephews. Services were held at St. Cecilia's Church. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery with arrangements by Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home.

She and her husband made maple syrup at their Maple Crest Farm. She was also a sales representative for the Berger Brothers Co. in Massachusetts, and was a former district manager. She was a charter member of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network Steering Committee, and served for six years on the Pottersville School Board. She was a member and deacon at the Minerva Baptist Church, and was active with the trustee board and other committees. Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne D. Monroe of Olmstedville, Florence S. Ely of Granville, and Maryemily E. Eddy (Michael) of Athol; two sons, Henry L. Pelletier of Plattsburgh, and David J. Pelletier (Jane) of New London, MO; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lee Pelletier; her parents; two brothers, Howard E. Wells, Jr. and Richard M. Wells; three sisters, Elizabeth F. Howe, Emily T. Juckett, and Thursea A. Bodkin; and two sons-in-law, Leonard R. Ely and Ruben H. Monroe. Services were held at Minerva Baptist Church. ROXBURY, NEW YORK: Rev. Niles M. Poff, 73, died December 17, 1973 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital. He was born December 23, 1889 in Philadelphia, PA to Walter B. Poff, Sr. and Lillian Copeland Poff. He was associate minister of the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church of Roxbury, and had also served at churches in Newburgh and Glenville. He held bachelor's and master's degrees from Dickinson College, and held a bachelor's degree in divinity from Drew University. He did postgraduate work at New York University. He was a member of the Newburgh Kiwanis Club with a 25-year perfect attendance record. Survivors include his wife, Frances Poff; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Dobbs of Haddonfield, NJ, and Mrs. Stanley Jones of Clearwater, FL; a brother, Walter B. Poff, Jr. of Woodbury Heights, NJ; and his nieces and nephews. Services were held at the West Glenville Reformed Church. Interment was at the West Glenville Cemetery. RYE, NEW YORK: Rosa Potruch, 99, died June 8, 2000. She was born in Libau, Latvia on August 8, 1901 to Isaac Taub and Miriam Hendler Taub. She held the equivalent of a Ph.D. degree in bacteriology from The Institute of Bacteriology in Leipzig, Germany, and was a specialist in tropical diseases. She was a bacteriologist in Germany and also at the Main Laboratory in Katanga, Belgian Congo. She previously lived in Tel Aviv, Israel and Cape Town, South Africa. She was a resident of Rye for 23 years. She was a member of Community Synagogue and Hadassah, and was known for her volunteer work. She was fluent in six languages, enjoyed music and reading, and was an early Zionist. Survivors include a daughter, Miriam Buch Rothman; a son-in-law, Rabbi Robert A. Rothman; and a granddaughter. She was predeceased by her her husband, Abraham Potruch; and her siblings, Erna, Phillip, Taube, and Raja. Services were held at Community Synagogue. Interment was at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla with arrangements by William H. Graham Funeral Home.

HERKIMER, NEW YORK: Dephine B. Pratt, 94, died February 11, 2000. She was born December 6, 1905 to the late William and Christina Ostrander. She was a retired employee of the Masonic Home. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, both in the U.S. and abroad, and playing pinochle. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Nellie Pratt of Herkimer, and William and Mary Pratt of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Janet LaBreche of East Herkimer; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Mayme "Dutch" Hendrix of Ilion. SIDNEY, NEW YORK: Ida Fancher Mann Schlisman, 80, died May 2, 2002 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. She was born December 7, 1921 in Bovina Center, NY to Ward and Nellie Miller Fancher. RIDGEFIELD, NEW YORK: Edmund Seneviratna died March 21, 2010. He was a retired engineer and surveyor. He came to the U.S. from Sri Lanka, and underwent technical training and education in Sri Lanka, as well as studying at Cambridge University. He was a former assistant superintendent in the Surveyor General's Department of the Sri Lankan government, and was later a systems engineer for Perkin-Elmer Corporation. He was a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the U.S. Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the Men's Club of Ridgefield, and the New York Buddhist Vihara in Queens. Among the survivors are his wife, Lakshmi Silva Seneviratna. Cremation arrangements were handled by Kane Funeral Home.

He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), the Federal Employees Credit Union, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed league bowling. LAKE VIEW, NEW YORK: Donald J. "Duke" Spittler, 91, died August 30, 2010 in Hamburg. He was born May 11, 1919 in Lake View. He was a retired Army Reserve colonel, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was inducted into the Army Artillery Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame in 1986. He held a degree in biology from Cornell University, and was a longtime wildlife biologist for the State Department of Conservation, where he worked with wildlife habitats and reforestation projects. He later worked for the Department of Mental Hygiene and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was a 1984 recipient of the Ronald Reagan Award for Community Service, and was elected Professional of the Year by the Federal Executive Board. He served as chairman of the Town of Hamburg Conservation Advisory Board and the town Planning Board. He was also a member of the Lake View Volunteer Fire Association, the Lake View Athletic Club, and served as president of the Hamburg Historical Society. He is survived by three sons, Donald, Jr., George, and David; and a daughter, Gail Rose. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Anne Honen Spittler. LIVERPOOL, NEW YORK: Carmen J. Squadrito, 61, died December 8, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Italy on August 4, 1948. He retired from Ryder Truck Rental after 25 years of service, and had also worked at New Venture Gear for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and attended St. John's Church. He was a member of the Clay Sportsman Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Pollastro Squadrito; three sons, Joseph A. Squadrito of Syracuse, James D. (Kara) Squadrito of Brewerton, and Carmen J. Squadrito of Wake Forest, NC; a brother, Anthony (Shirley) Squadrito of Syracuse; three sisters, Phyllis (Pat) DiFrancesco of North Syracuse, Connie (Louise) DeStefano of Syracuse, and Tommasa (August) Wise of Cicero; 3 grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Andrew J. (Floreen) Pollastro; his aunts and uncles; his cousins; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Girolamo and Santa Squadrito. Entombment was at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery with arrangements by Farone and Son Funeral Home.

STAHLMAN, Alice
NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK: Alice V. Plotner Stahlman, 100, died November 11, 2000 at the Niagara Geriatric Center. She was born in Pennsylvania. She was a longtime waitress at area restaurants, including the Hotel Niagara, the Rhapsody, and the Red Coach Inn. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Loyal Order of Moose, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Caudle of Arapahoe, NC; two sisters, Jenny Margaret Ankeny of New Kensington, PA, and Althea Rumbough of Natrona Heights, PA; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John, Sr. Interment was at Acacia Park Cemetery under the direction of Spallino-Amigone Funeral Home.

HERKIMER, NEW YORK: Victoria Stanejow, 83, died December 6, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born July 7, 1921 in Czerniejowia, Poland to Frank and Mary Ann Piotrowska. She lived in Germany during World War II, and moved to Brazil following the war. She arrived in the U.S. in the 1950s. She retired from the Joy Taylor Dress Shop. She attended Ss. Anthony And Joseph Church, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Herkimer Senior Citizens. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stella and Ronald Healey of Ilion; 2 granddaughters; 3 great-grandchildren; her cousins; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Stanejow; two brothers, Stanley Piotrowska and Joseph Piotrowska; and a sister, Nellie Brida. Services were held at Ss. Anthony and Joseph Church. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home.

DANSVILLE, NEW YORK: Alfred Stanishia, 86, died April 4, 2008. He was born February 12, 1922 in Trenton, NJ to Louis and Sarah Offeli Stanishia. YONKERS, NEW YORK: Michael P. Sudol, 68, died October 26, 1983 at St. John's Riverside Hospital. He was born April 7, 1905 in Yonkers to Peter and Mary J. Sudol. He retired from Julius Wile, Inc. in 1970. He was a member of the Professional Church Singers of Greater New York, the Sacred Heart church choir, The Lyndon Wright Chorale, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick's Glee Club, and the Yonkers Post Office Glee Club. He was also a volunteer at St. Casimir's Senior Citizens' Home. Survivors include his wife, Mary Buczek Sudol; a son, Peter M. Sudol of Yonkers; three daughters, Alicia Wright of Ossining, Mary A. Sudol of New York City, and Barbara Miller of Enfield, CT; three sisters, Sophie, Catherine, and Eve A. Sudol, all of Yonkers; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Adam and John Sudol. Services were held at St. Casimir's Church. Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery by Flynn Memorial Home.
